Disk Copy And Duplication
We offer this service for creating an exact copy or duplicate of a device to another. This might be useful in the following scenarios:
- Reboot and restore – a technique in which the disk of a computer is automatically wiped and then restored from a "clean" state using a prior copy, which should be in full working order and should have been swept for viruses.
- Provisioning new computers – Provisioning with a standard set of software so that a new user is ready to go straight away with a complete application suite and does not have to waste time installing individual applications.
- Hard drive upgrade – Where one upgrades from an old and usually smaller disk or drive to a new, usually larger, hard disk.
- Full system backup – Where one may wish to create a comprehensive backup of their operating system, user files, and installed software.
- Transfer to another user – A system sold or given to another person may be reset by reloading a known, previously-saved state that contains no personal files or information.
The first step is to book in your media. All media submitted to Imexgro for data recovery must be accompanied by a signed and completed Diagnosis And Recovery Request Form, and can be hand-delivered or couriered to Imexgro's premises with you media. Please see our Packaging / Shipping Instructions page for more information.
What we do is create a bit-by-bit (i.e. every sector) copy of the source medium and thereby perfectly replicate the structure and contents of a storage device, to a large file, and onto another medium. The copy that we create is operating system-independent.
A bit, or binary digit, is the amount of information stored by a digital device or other physical system that exists in one of two possible distinct states.
It can also be defined as a variable or computed quantity that can have only two possible values. These two values are often interpreted as binary digits and are usually denoted by the Arabic numerical digits 0 and 1.
