Packaging and Shipping Instructions
1. Complete the Diagnosis And Recovery Request Form as best you can, and include it with the media or within the parcel. The more information that we have, the better we can work at recovering your data.
2. Preferably just send us the media that needs data recovery. Remove the media from the computer - or get an expert to assist. Be wary of static charge – electronic devices are vulnerable to this. Earth yourself by touching a grounded metal object (such as an earthed computer chassis that's plugged in) or touch a stone/cement floor with your fingers before handling the device.
Alternatively, we can remove just what's needed when we receive the device.
Remember to handle the damaged media with great care – because this media holds your precious data, and further damage is most undesirable.
3. You might like to include your replacement media with your damaged media. This is where we can copy (put) your recovered data. If you don't have replacement media, that's okay – we can always quote you for and supply it.
4. Options in getting the media to us:
It can be delivered to us by you, if convenient and/or very urgent, or
A courier can be used.
5. Goods need to be carefully packaged to protect them during transit. Preferably place the media within a static-free bag, and use the original packaging - if you still have it.
The media needs to be safely secured: ensure that it's cushioned and suspended within a sturdy box, using bubble wrap, foam, or loose newspaper with a fair buffer between it and the sides of the box. Please do not use Styrofoam peanuts or similar – this isn't suitable.
6. If sending a laptop or desktop computer, for example – please use great care to ensure proper cushioning and protection. We recommend at least fifteen centimetres of insulation. The heavier the unit, the more insulation required.
7. Clearly label the package as “FRAGILE”, or “FRAGILE – HANDLE WITH CARE”.
If making use of a courier, please seal the box with packing tape and clearly mark with our shipping details and your return address. Listing telephone numbers might be a good idea, too.
